With summer right around the corner, we have noticed people have been asking us a lot of questions about receiving the perfect tan from our tanning beds. We decided to teach everyone proper techniques to achieve the tan they want the quickest (and safest) way possible. Read the tips below!
Exfoliate regularly. This is important not only because it leads to a build-up of dead skin cells which may cause excess oil and clogged pores, but also helps shed dead skin cells on the surface of your skin. When old skin cells pile up on the skin, you may seem to get ashy or skin may feel rough. Exfoliating gets rid of old skin cells and unclogs pores giving you fresh, new skin to tan!
Build your tan gradually. We cannot stress enough how important it is to build your tan up instead of burning from going too long in a bed. It may seem silly to start at a low time, but building up your time is the best prevention from burning and sun damage, which brings us to our next tip.
Avoid burning. Not only does it hurt, but burning also with repeated sun damage skin starts to look dry, leathery, and wrinkled. There is a big difference between the look of a golden tan and the redness of a sunburn. Let us help you get bronzed!
Use tanning lotion every time you lay in a tanning bed. Using tanning lotion helps tone skin and boost melanin production in skin helping you tan faster. Tanning lotions have a variety of benefits like skin tightening, fade protecting agents, and bronzer. With the use of tanning lotion, your tan looks more healthy, darker, and even.
Apply moisturizer every morning and evening. Moisturizers are designed to protect and hydrate your skin to help it look and feel its best. You can never apply to much moisturizer!
Use the stand-up booth occasionally. Have you noticed white spots on your shoulder-blade, tailbone, or elbow areas? These are from pressure spots from how you lay in the bed. To prevent the look of these, we recommend you use the stand up once or twice every two weeks. It also evens out all the stubborn areas it may be hard to tan in the bed.
PREPARING FOR YOUR
SUNLESS SPRAY TAN
It seems that many individuals are left in the dark when it comes to sunless tanning. Most are unaware of spray tan preparation and aftercare procedures. Since this is the case, we have decided to break it down in simple steps so everyone may receive the best, bronze sunless tan!
Prior to your spray tan session, you want to be sure you have any waxing/shaving or nail care done. If you wax after your spray tan, it is more than likely going to wax off your tan. Much alike, shaving will flake your skin (and tan) off. If you are wanting to have your nails done, it is best to get it done before your spray session to be sure it will not affect your tan on your hands.
Before you get to the salon, you want to make sure you shower AND EXFOLIATE. Look for an exfoliator that is non-oil based and has a gritty scrub. You do not want to use something too harsh, but strong enough to get any flakes or dry skin off your body.
You CANNOT have any makeup, lotion/oil, perfume, or deodorant on before you get your sunless tan even if it is from earlier that day. These will clog your pores and block/blotch our formula on your skin. Because if this, we suggest you get a spray tan as soon as possible after your shower.
If it is raining the day of your spray tan, we recommend you bring an umbrella or wear appropriate clothing to protect your skin.
We suggest dark colored clothing and for articles to be as loose-fitted as possible. If rubbed onto clothing, the spray tan formula should come off after it has been washed.
You will feel a little sticky and may have a slight odor after your spray tan session, and this is totally normal. Just try not to touch your skin much because it will rub onto your palms or fingertips, causing discoloration.
For complete instructions on the process of your spray tanning session, please watch the VersaPro Heated Sunless Spa Series Demonstration Video below.
After your spray tan, you should not shower, exercise, or get wet for a minimum of 4-6 hours. We suggest, however, to wait until the next morning or as long as possible for your next shower.
Tanning your hands may be a little more difficult due to the natural oils in our palms. We say to lightly wash your hands 2 hours after your spray tan and pat dry.
Do not wash your face or put on makeup before your first shower. This will impact the results of your spray tan.
After you shower, it is best to pat dry.
Do not exfoliate with any sort of loufa sponge, body scrub, or harsh body washes. This will fade your tan.
It is best if you limit shaving your legs, or at least not daily. This will also make your tan fade.
Moisturizing will help extend the life of your tan. It is best to use a hydrating, fragrance free lotion. You want to start moisturizing after your first shower.
We hope these simple tips helps answer any questions someone may have about preparing for a spray tan and the aftercare. If you have additional questions or concerns, do not be afraid to contact our salon at (865)357-5550 or email us at firstname.lastname@example.org!!
